Alarm.com Skill - Connect Amazon Alexa with Alarm.com

Compatibility: The Alarm.com Skill is compatible with all Alexa-enabled Amazon devices (e.g., Echo Spot, Echo Dot, Echo Show, etc.). Note: Doorbell cameras are not compatible with Amazon Alexa, and it is not possible to play video on Echo device screens.

Requirements: In order to use Alarm.com with Amazon Alexa, the following are required:

  • A customer account powered by Alarm.com.

  • Lights, thermostats, locks, garage doors, security panel, or camera powered by Alarm.com.

  • A device with Amazon Alexa, such as the Echo or Echo Dot.

Important: The Amazon Alexa-powered device must be set to English.

To set up Alarm.com skill with Alexa: Using voice commands:

  1. Tell the Alexa enabled device: "Alexa, talk to Alarm.com." Alexa will respond that the Alarm.com account needs to be linked.

  2. Open the Amazon Alexa app on a mobile device or go to Alexa.amazon.com using a web browser.

  3. On the Home dashboard, an Alarm.com card will appear at the top of the app with a Link Alarm.com Account button. Note: The Amazon Alexa app view may vary based on the device in use.

  4. Tap Link Alarm.com Account.

  5. To finish linking the account, see Linking the account.

Searching through Skills on Amazon Alexa App

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on a mobile device.

  2. Tap .

  3. Tap Skills & Games.

  4. Tap the search icon at the top of the screen.

  5. Enter Alarm.com in the search field.

  6. Tap Alarm.com. Note: The Alarm.com Smart Home is the native Alexa skill and is discussed in Amazon Alexa Smart Home Skill.

  7. Tap Launch on the skill page and follow the directions listed in Linking the account to link the Alarm.com account. Note: If the Alarm.com skill is already enabled, tap Settings on the skill page and then tap Link Account. This initiates the account linking process.

Linking the account After performing the normal link process listed below:

  1. Open the Alexa App.

  2. Tap .

  3. Tap Activity.

  4. Tap Link Account for any listed Alarm.com skills.

  5. Enter login credentials.

  6. Tap Allow.

  7. Log in with Alarm.com account credentials and tap Next.

  8. There will be a prompt asking to enable secure actions. Secure actions are security sensitive (unlock the door, open the garage, disarm the panel) and protected behind a four-digit pin. If interested, tap Allow (go to step 3) otherwise tap Deny (go to step 4). Note: Appropriate system permissions are required in order to access secure actions.

  9. Enter the four-digit pin and tap Submit.

  10. The account is now linked. Tap the x in the top left and begin interacting with Alarm.com through Amazon Alexa.
